Sound of Hope: The story of Possum Trot | Foxboro

Sunday, 1/26/25 at 2:00pm

About the Event

Movie Screening
Sunday January 26, 2-5pm
Foxboro Campus Sanctuary

Join us for a screening of Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot.
"The true story of Donna and Reverend WC Martin and their church in East Texas, in which 22 families adopted 77 children from the local foster system, igniting a movement for vulnerable children everywhere."

We will be showing this thought provoking, inspiring film on our large screeen in the campus Sanctuary, and conclude with a breif time of discussion around what it can look like to support families and social workers who navigate foster, adoptive, and next of kin family care.

This event is open to the public for adults and older teens. We will have light refreshments on hand. We're excied for this opportunity to learn more and dream about what it means to make a difference in the lives of children and families. Please RSVP at the link below so we can prepare well. You can also check out the movie trailer link below as well.

Content Advisory: Though not true for all stories, the circumstances under which children enter foster care can be difficult. The movie depicts some scenes that may be difficult for some. We want this to be a safe space so right up front we want to say if at any point you need to step out of our showing, please feel free to do what you need to do to take care of yourself. This story depicted in the film takes place in a small town in rural TX 28 years ago. As you may imagine, we have learned a lot about how to help children from backgrounds of adversity heal and thrive since then. The film represents some moments where different strategies or language would be suggested today for those caring for or talking to or about children impacted by foster care. The story reflects representations of what was, then and there, not necessarily what should be today. Nonetheless, we believe The Sound of Hope shares an amazing and beautiful story of what can happen when God's people catch a vision for how the church can and should respond to the needs of children in the foster care system. And we hope you find it challenging and inspiring as so many have.
