Christmas finds us longing for peace. What do the words the angels spoke over Bethlehem—and on earth, peace—mean for our world today? Feelings of restlessness, worry, regret, and fear stand in contrast to the emotions we reach toward at the holidays: joy and hope, love and contentment.
Just as we look up to the skies in search of messengers, a star, or a sign, we often begin our journey toward Christmas with a yearly visit to our attic: the highest place in the house. What we find up there—what we’ve stashed, hidden, forgotten, or ignored—can whisper to us about peace, if we’ll listen.
Glory in the Highest: Meditations from the Attic is a five-day meditation series created to help you discover a deeper peace this Christmas. Though we begin in a dusty attic, we’ll find ourselves at the manger, among real people experiencing a peace that passes understanding—the peace promised to us at Jesus’ birth.
“…the rising sun will come to us from heaven,
to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the path of peace.” Luke 1:78-79
