Psalm 130
My heart is heavy today. A heaviness born from bearing the grief of dear friends. I cannot ease the pain of those I love, but I can point them to the only one who is able to heal. When I am in sorrow, I always look to the psalms. They have brought a comfort to my heart that is unlike anything else I have ever known. I will never outgrow my need for the Lord. He heard me in my suffering, and he rescued me when I was lost.
I wrote this song back in 2004, during a time of loss. I hope it ministers to you, and that you will find solace in the richness found in this Psalm.
Grace and Peace.
Psalm 130
By Kathryn Baldanza
From depths of woe I cry to thee
Lord, hear my voice! Give ear to me
For you are merciful to me
Lord, let no sin be found in me
If you recalled the sins of man, Lord, who could stand?
Who could stand before thee?
Who could stand?
But! In your love you’ve hidden me
And by your grace forgiven me
My surety stands before your throne
My hope is placed in you alone.
Like watchmen wait for morning light all through the night
I wait, Oh Lord, upon thee.
I wait, Oh Lord!
O Israel! Trust in God above
For with him is unchanging love
And by the Lord’s redeeming hand
He makes a way for every man
And when he comes to call his own--By him they’re known--
They will hear him calling
They will hear!
