Scripture: Joshua 24:15, 1 Peter 3:8-9

  • Have you ever noticed that how what is going on in your home has a huge impact on the rest of your life?
    • I’m guessing you:
      • weren’t expecting to be living like you are right now
      • missing out on so many things you were planning
      • A bit of tension
    • We all know this, when our home life is a mess, it impacts the rest of your life
      • Our emotional life is a mess.
      • Often our physical life is a mess.
      • We can’t sleep, we feel anxious, we feel unsafe.
    • But when our home life is going well, everything else goes better for us.
      • We can live into these other places
    • Your home is a sacred space
      • Every square foot of it is holy ground.
      • Every square foot we walk on everywhere is holy ground
      • If we are followers of Jesus, then everywhere we go we bring Jesus
      • Including your home

    • All of it is connected to God.
      • It is a place to become more like Jesus.
    • 1 Peter 3
      • “So that nothing will hinder your prayers…”
      • There is a direct connection between your
        • life at home and
        • your life with God
      • Our homes are not perfect
        • Our families are not perfect
        • We are not perfect
      • So, how do you and I as individuals have an impact on our home life?
      • Claim the Ground
        • Joshua 24
        • If serving the lord seems undesirable to you then choose who you will serve
        • But as for me and my family we will serve the Lord
      • Pray Every Day
        • Don’t grab phone first thing
        • Lord help us to have the peace to accept the things I can’t change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
      • Choose to Serve
        • Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble 9 Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing.
