Whenever I face circumstances that generate fear and anxiety I remember and recite this Scripture. One of the reasons is that there is a vivid memory from my childhood that is attached to this Scripture.
In the midst of our fear and anxiety, Jesus’ life confronts us with a different reality and promise – that God is near and with us, even when our normal ways of connecting with God and way of life is disrupted.
God gives words of assurance to his people through the prophet Isaiah that because God has called them by name, because they belong to him, there is no reason to fear, but rather to hope in the fact that is doing a new thing among them.
